A Brief History of Moi University
Moi University was founded through an Act of Parliament in 1984, with a sole department at the time—the Department of Forestry. The university started with an enrollment of just 83 students. Over the years, it has expanded exponentially, incorporating various faculties and schools that cater to a diverse range of disciplines.
A major milestone in its history was the establishment of the School of Medicine in 1996, making it the second medical school in Kenya. This addition enhanced the university’s reputation as a hub for medical training and research, providing quality education for future healthcare professionals.
